Troubleshoot Roku camera Wi-Fi connectivity
If you are having trouble connecting your Roku camera to Wi-Fi or are having issues staying connected, try some of the tips below.
Signal Strength and Range
Check that your router meets requirements: Check with the manufacturer for help determining if it's compatible with your Roku camera. Some models support Wi-Fi 6 (SCB12X, SCB11X, SCW11X, SCS1100X).
Locate router close to your device: Your camera should be located no more than a maximum of 300 feet (90 meters) from the Wi-Fi router. The maximum range is typically reduced by walls, ceilings, brick, concrete, and stone. If there are thick walls or other materials between your router and camera, try placing the camera in a different location where the Wi-Fi signal can travel more easily.
Ensure space between devices: Your camera should be located at least 6 feet (1.8 meters) away from other Wi-Fi enabled devices.
Check camera placement: Place your camera in an area with a strong Wi-Fi Signal. If you experience consistent Wi-Fi issues, we recommend upgrading to a mesh router system. This can help provide a stronger, more reliable signal throughout your home, reducing dead zones and ensuring better connectivity—especially if your camera is far from your main router.
Check signal strength:
Open the Roku Smart Home App and choose your device
Navigate to Settings > Device Info
Check the camera's Signal strength and ensure you have three full bars of signal. If not, move your router closer to the device. (This feature is only available with Roku Video Doorbells, Roku Outdoor Camera with Base Station, and Roku Floodlight Camera).
Battery life
Keep camera battery charged: Keep your Roku camera battery charged above 25%. Low battery can lead to an unstable connection.
Ensure the device is running the latest firmware:
Open the Roku Smart Home App and select your device
Navigate to Settings > Device Info > Firmware version then tap Check for update. Click Yes to continue. Regular updates can improve performance and resolve connectivity issues.
Reset Wi-Fi Connection
If you have tried all other troubleshooting steps and cannot connect your camera to Wi-Fi, reset your device and set it up again
Open the Roku Smart Home App and select your device
