How to set up your Roku Outdoor Wired Camera (Latest model)
Your Roku® Outdoor Wired Camera delivers a Full HD image with great features like motion and sound detection, Wide Dynamic Range (SCW11R only), Color Night Vision (SCW11R only), instant notifications, simultaneous two-way audio, intruder siren, and the ability to notify you when it hears a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm in your home. Plus, if you purchase a Roku Smart Home Subscription, you also get secure cloud recording, instant notifications when motion and sound is detected, and intelligent person, pet, and object detection.
Your camera includes everything you need to get started including power adaptor and mounting hardware. Simply download and install the free Roku Smart Home mobile app and use it to connect your camera to your wireless network. You will be viewing the live video stream, receiving alerts, and personalizing settings in no time.
What you need for setup
In addition to your Roku Outdoor Wired Camera and included accessories, you will need the following:
- Power: Use the included 12.5-foot weatherproof cable and power adaptor to connect your camera to a GFCI power outlet for protection against short circuits from water, etc.
- Wi-Fi®: Your camera needs a wireless network connection with WPA/WPA2 security standard.
- Smartphone or tablet: You will need to download and install the Roku Smart Home app for iOS® and Android™ to set up and control your camera.
- Philips screwdriver (optional): If you plan to mount your camera, you will need a Philips screwdriver. The recommended drill size is 3/32" for the mounting screw only and 3/16" for the wall anchors.
Before you begin, familiarize yourself with your outdoor camera including the location of the status light. It is also important to make note of the MAC address which is required should you need to contact Roku Customer Support. When it's time to access the setup button, turn the camera over to locate it on the underside.

Where to install your outdoor camera
Your outdoor camera can be installed just about anywhere outside your home with many uses, including:
- Security watch: Set your camera to record video any time sound or motion is detected.
- Pet cam: Check in on your furry companions any time you are away from home.
- Capture wildlife: Monitor your yard for all the neighborhood critters.

After you decide how you want to use your camera, be sure to choose a location within 12.5 feet of a GFCI power outlet or use an AC power extension cable that is outdoor rated. Decide whether you want to place your camera on a flat surface or mount it in an unobstructed location. The Outdoor Wired Camera is water-resistant for typical outdoor use. However, prolonged submersion or exposure to pressurized water, high-velocity water, or extreme humidity can compromise its seals, leading to potential failures, and should be avoided. Tip: If you choose a location where your camera is upside down, you can flip the image after setup is complete. Simply select your camera in the smart home app and go to Settings 
> Advanced settings > Rotate image 180°.
Getting started
When you are ready, power on your outdoor camera. First, attach the small end of the power adaptor to the power cable on your camera making sure not to force the connection. The connector is keyed to only fit one way. Next, plug the other end of the power adaptor into a GFCI power outlet.

What does the status light mean during setup?
It is important to understand what the status light means as you power on your camera and continue with the setup process.

Install the smart home app
The Roku Smart Home mobile app is a free application for iOS and Android that lets you set up, configure, and control your Roku home monitoring system, cameras, video doorbells, plugs, bulbs, and light strips. You can download the smart home app from the appropriate link below.
Connect your outdoor camera
Before you get started, make sure your smartphone or tablet is connected to your Wi-Fi network (e.g., MyNetwork_2.4GHz). Next, launch the smart home app and create a new Roku account, or enter the username and password for your existing account. After you sign in, perform the steps below to connect your outdoor camera.
Add your camera
- Tap the plus sign
from the navigation bar and select Add device - Select Cameras & doorbells and choose Outdoor Wired Camera
- Choose the stand has one leg
- Plug your camera into a power outlet with the cable and wall adapter provided
- Open your phone's Bluetooth settings and ensure Bluetooth is turned On. How you do this will vary based on your device.
- Tap the light is pulsing blue if the light is pulsing blue on your smart home camera
- If the light is not pulsing blue, hold down the Setup button on the bottom of the camera until it begins pulsing blue. If this does not work, press and hold the Setup button for 10 seconds.
- Your camera will connect to the Smart Home App. The status light will glow solid green.
- Tap the plus sign
Connect to Wi-Fi
- Your wireless network should be listed in the Wi-Fi network name pull-down

- Enter your password and tap Next

Finish setup
- After the camera is connected it will automatically update to the latest firmware if an update is available. Do not unplug your camera from its power source during this step.
- Next, enter a name for your camera. Select a suggestion from the list or enter a custom name and tap Save
- One the next screen you can learn more about the premiere features available with your Roku Smart Home Subscription. You can get instant recordings when motion and sound is detected, and intelligent person, pet, and object detection.
- You will also be prompted to set up notifications. Complete this step or tap skip and finish setup.
Recordings
With a Wi-Fi connection, your camera can record videos to the cloud with your Roku Smart Home Subscription. If your camera is installed where there is no Wi-Fi connection or the signal is poor, try these troubleshooting steps.
