  • View tips on maximizing battery lift by navigating to Settings > Battery

Causes of battery drain

Too many motion events

Each time your Roku device detects motion or records a video, it consumes battery power. A high number of these events can drain your battery faster.

Solution

Poor Wi-Fi signal

If your Roku camera frequently disconnects and reconnects due to a weak Wi-Fi signal, it consumes more battery power.

Solution

  • Relocate router: Move your router closer to the device or use a Wi-Fi extender to improve signal strength.
  • Troubleshoot Wi-Fi: Learn more about troubleshooting your camera's Wi-Fi.

Camera is too active

Your camera may be continuously recording long events without your knowledge, leading to faster battery drain.

Solution

  • Increase recording cooldown: Increase how long the camera rests between recordings.
  • Reduce video length: Lower the maximum length of recordings to reduce the time your camera is active.

Overcharging Batteries

Overcharging can reduce your camera battery's efficiency, causing it to drain more quickly and take longer to recharge.

Solution

  • Stop charging before 100%: Try unplugging your camera from charging when the battery reaches about 90%.
