Just like you access an “app store” on your smartphone to add new applications, you access the Roku Store to add new apps to your Roku® streaming player or Roku TV™.
Some apps require a paid subscription or a one-time charge, while many others are free. Browse for apps in the Store on your Roku streaming device, on channelstore.roku.com or on the Roku mobile app. If you’ve set up a Roku account PIN, you’ll be required to enter it to add the app and sign up for a subscription.Note that when you add an app to your Roku device, you’re actually adding it to your Roku account. As a result, the app will automatically be added to all Roku devices linked to your Roku account. When you remove an app, the same is true—it will be removed from all Roku devices linked to your Roku account.
Adding apps from your Roku device
- When you want to learn more about a channel, press OK
on your remote to open the details. In addition to a synopsis and rating, you can preview screenshots of the channel. - If the channel is “free” then you can select Add Channel to install the channel on your Roku device.
- If the channel is “paid”, then you can select Buy $X.XX in order to purchase and install the channel.
- If you have a Roku account PIN, then you will be required to enter it. If you do not have a PIN and wish to protect against unauthorized purchases, learn how to create a PIN for your Roku account.
- If your payment information is out-of-date, it will need to be updated in your Roku account.
The app will be added to the bottom of the list of apps on the home screen. If you prefer, the app can be moved higher up the list.
Adding apps from Roku.com
- Go to channelstore.roku.com
- Select My account and sign in to your Roku account
At the top of the site is a selection of categories and genres to explore. Below that you can enter a keyword in the Search channel box to find choices based on the title of a channel. - When you want to learn more about a channel, select Details. You will see the same synopsis, rating and screenshots that appear when viewing the details on your Roku device.
- Follow the instructions to add or purchase the channel
If the app does not appear on your Roku device, go to your Roku device and select Settings > System > System update > Check now.
Adding apps from the Roku mobile app
- Launch the Roku mobile app
- Tap Channels
from the navigation bar - On the Channels tab, select Channel Store from the top menu
- Browse the channel store by category or genre, and select a channel to view more information
- Tap Add channel and follow the instructions to add or purchase the channel
- If you have a Roku account PIN, then you will be required to enter it. If you do not have a PIN and wish to protect against unauthorized purchases, learn how to create a PIN for your Roku account.
If the app does not appear on your Roku device, go to your Roku device and select Settings > System > System update > Check now.
