How to change the screensaver on your Roku streaming device

A screensaver is an application that fills the TV screen with moving images or patterns when your Roku streaming player or Roku TV is not in use. Screensavers were originally designed to prevent phosphor burn-in on older TV’s but are now used primarily for entertainment. Changing the screensaver is one of the ways you can personalize your Roku experience. Several screensavers are included with your Roku device, while others can be purchased or downloaded for free from the Streaming Store.

Note:

  • Roku wireless speakers only work with a Roku TV system, Roku Streambar, Roku Streambar Pro, or Roku Smart Soundbar. They will not work with a Roku Streambar SE, other TVs, sound systems, or Roku streaming players. Learn how to determine if you have a Roku TV system.
  • Roku wireless speakers cannot be paired to your Roku TV system when a Roku Streambar, Roku Streambar Pro, or Roku Smart Soundbar is connected. Instead, they can be paired to a Roku Streambar, Roku Streambar Pro, or Roku Smart Soundbar as wireless surround speakers.
  • When Roku wireless speakers are connected to your Roku TV system, the speakers inside the TV are disabled.
  • Note: From time to time we change the default screensaver on Roku devices, and in some cases run different screensavers on select devices.
