How to change the auto-play video setting on your Roku streaming device
While browsing around on your Roku® streaming device, some videos will automatically start playing and some images will automatically scroll from one to the next. The Auto-play video setting controls whether these videos and images will automatically play or remain still.
This article provides instruction on how to turn the Auto-play video setting on and off.
How to change the Auto-play video setting
Use the following steps to change the Auto-play video setting on your Roku streaming device.
Press Home on your remote
Scroll and select Settings
Select Accessibility
Select Auto-play video
Choose On or Off
If you select On, your Roku device will play some videos automatically while you are navigating on screen
If you select Off, videos will appear as images instead
Note: If the screen reader is turned on, the auto-play video setting will automatically turn off.
Why do I still see videos automatically playing?
If videos are still automatically playing, review the following troubleshooting tips.
Change the setting on each device: The auto-play video settings only applies to the device you are currently using. You must update the setting on each device you own.
Check app settings: Roku will make your auto-play preference available to third party apps, but some apps may have their own auto-play setting. If you are in an app, videos still automatically start playing as you navigate, check the app you're in to see whether they have a setting to control auto-play videos.
