What is Roku's Streaming Store and how do I access it to add apps?

What is Roku’s Streaming Store?

Just like your smartphone has an “app store,” Roku’s Streaming Store has thousands of apps and free TV for your Roku device. You’ll find all the top apps, plus apps for sports, news, weather, music, travel, education, shopping, personal media, games, and more.

You can add apps from your Roku device, the Roku website, or the Roku mobile app. Some apps require a paid subscription or one-time charge. Others, like The Roku Channel, are free.

Adding apps to your Roku device

You can add apps when you first create a Roku account or activate your Roku device. You can also add apps later from your Roku device, the Roku website, or the Roku mobile app.

If you install an app and later decide you don’t want it, apps can be removed from your Roku device

Adding apps from your Roku device

  • Press Homehome button on Roku remote on your Roku remote.
  • On the Home Screen, select Streaming Store. You can also find promos for apps on your Roku device or use Search to find specific apps.
  • Select an app to find out more about it.
  • Select Add app and follow any steps to sign up for a subscription, if required.

The app will be added to the bottom of the apps on your Roku device Home screen. If you prefer, the app can be moved higher up.

Adding apps from the Roku website

  • Go to the Streaming Store on the Roku website and explore categories and genres, or search to find a specific app.
  • Select Add app to install the app on your Roku device or select Details to learn more about the app.

Adding apps from the Roku mobile app

  • On the Roku mobile app, find apps in the Store, in Categories, or in Recommended, or search to find a specific app.
  • Select an app to find out more about it.
  • Select Add, to install the app on your Roku device.
