How to set up your Roku TV Smart Projector

How to set up your Roku TV Smart Projector


Quick Start Guide

Power on

  • Plug the power source that came with your projector into a wall outlet and connect your projector
  • Remove the protective film from the lens
  • Press the power button on the back of the device

Adjust Image

  • Aim your Roku projector at the surface you want to use as a display
  • Choose how your projector is positioned to orient the image correctly
    • Front tabletop (default): No flip
    • Front ceiling: Flipped vertically
    • Rear tabletop: Flipped horizontally
    • Rear ceiling: Flipped vertically and horizontally
  • The projector will auto-focus to sharpen the image. For best results, place the projector within 10 feet of the projection surface. If it’s farther away, you’ll need to adjust the focus manually.

Note: You can change this setting any time by navigating to Settings > Projector > Orientation

Connect to Wi-Fi

Roku projectors support Wi-Fi only. There is no wired or offline setup option.

  • Select your Wi-Fi network
  • Enter the password when prompted

Once connected, setup continues automatically.

Complete Guided Setup

After orientation and Wi-Fi setup, you’ll proceed through the rest of Roku’s Guided Setup. Follow the on-screen instructions to select your language and complete set up. If you need help, learn how to activate or link your Roku account.

Adjust your projector


When you move your Roku TV Smart Projector, it will automatically re-adjust the display. You can also trigger these adjustments.

Restart auto-keystone or auto-focus

Navigate to Settings > Projector Settings and select one of the following:

Start auto-focus

Projects a pattern and sharpens the image automatically

Start auto-keystone

Adjusts the image to match the projection surface, giving it a flatter appearance

Manually adjust display settings

Navigate to Settings > Projector Settings > Image correction to manually adjust the projector image.

Manual Focus

  • Use the Directional pad on your remote (Individual presses make small changes, press and hold for rapid adjustment)
  • A “bonk” sound and dimmed arrow appear when you have reached the end
  • Press Back or Home to exit and save changes

Manual Keystone

  • Use the Directional pad on your remote
  • Press OK to cycle through Top-left, Top-right, Bottom-right, Bottom-left
  • Press the Replay button to reset corners
  • Exit to save your changes

Zoom

  • Use the Directional pad on your remote
  • Adjustments are saved automatically
  • Auto-focus will not trigger if you move the projector during this step

Manage auto-adjust

Navigate to Settings > Projector Settings > Movement Adjustments to choose how your projector reacts when bumped or moved.

  • Auto-keystone & focus (default): Both adjustments run automatically
  • Auto-focus only: Maintains keystone settings to preserve custom alignment

Change projector orientation

You can update orientation from Settings > Projector Settings > Orientation if you move or remount your projector.

Troubleshooting


Projector unresponsive?

If your projector becomes unresponsive or stuck, you can try resetting it by using a pin to push the Reset button on the back of the device.

Blurry picture?

Turn off your projector, then turn it back on while it's aimed directly at the screen or wall where you want to display the image. Your projector will automatically adjust the focus when it starts up. If the projector is further than 10 feet away from the projection surface, adjust it using the steps in the Manually adjust display settings section above.

Issues connecting to Wi-Fi?

Follow the steps outlined in this guide for more help if your projector isn't connecting to Wi-Fi.
