Can I use the Roku Mobile app as a remote?
You may want to use the Roku Mobile app as a replacement for your remote. There are several things to know about replacing your remote with the app.
- Your Roku device must already be powered on and connected to your home Wi-Fi network
- Your phone or tablet must be on the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku device
If your Roku device isn’t connected to the Internet—such as after a reset or if you are setting it up for the first time—the mobile app cannot detect your device, and you will not be able to use it as a remote.
