November 7, 2025 - Newly released Roku OS features that are broadly available in the USA and key international features:

Search is now available in What to Watch and Live TV Zone, saving you time by allowing you to search our vast catalog of Live TV and What to Watch entertainment for your specific interests:

  • Search is available in What to Watch and Live TV Zone, making it easier to find what you’re looking for. You can now search within these specific destinations, allowing you to find what you want to watch even faster by getting entertainment search results within a destination.

Bluetooth Headphone Mode is available on more Roku devices:

  • We have added “Bluetooth Headphone Mode”, an existing Roku OS feature, to more Roku devices, ensuring greater accessibility. You can now use Bluetooth Headphone Mode with Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick Plus, our newest and most affordable devices. Headphone Mode allows you to listen to your TV entertainment with connected Bluetooth headphones, so you can crank up the volume without disturbing others in your home.

Updated “Quick Tips” experience to educate you on recently launched OS features, so you can get the most out of your TV streaming experience:

  • We have updated our “Quick Tips” experience to educate you on OS features that are available to you. This will be an education-based experience that provides key information on recently launched features. Roku devices are always getting better with ongoing OS feature updates. Quick Tips is a simple, intuitive, and actionable experience to drive awareness and engagement with new features.

Updates to the Roku Mobile App to ensure we collect your feedback on entertainment:

  • You can now provide feedback via a like / dislike button for entertainment directly in the Roku Mobile App. This ensures your feedback is captured so we can better personalize your experience.

You can now get Live Event reminders from the Roku mobile app for sports events so you never miss a game:

  • Within Roku Sports Zones, you can now set reminders for upcoming live events and then receive mobile notifications from the Roku Mobile App when it’s game time. This will ensure you never miss a game for your favorite team.

We’ve added several new features so you can discover and select entertainment to watch more confidently:

  • We have added rows for “New” and “Top 10”, which update dynamically, allowing you to find recently added and trending movies or TV shows easily. You'll find these new rows under the "New & Popular" tab as well as the Movies and TV destinations.
  • Now you can see specific streaming apps for where to watch entertainment right below the entertainment tile when browsing within Roku. This provides a quick snapshot of where you can watch the specific TV show or movie you are browsing without having to go to the full details page, allowing you to make a faster decision on what entertainment to watch next.
  • We have added key, interactive buttons on trailers, such as “ways to watch,” so you can take action while watching or at the end of watching a trailer to get you streaming faster.

Updates to the Roku Payment Screens:

  • We have updated the payment screen to be more intuitive and efficient. You can now add a payment method using a QR code, and we’ve refined the layout to minimize steps and help you complete your purchase faster.

Expansion of key free Live TV features in UK and Brazil:

  • We launched FAST (Free Ad-Supported TV) channels in the UK, providing you with more TV channels, completely free. Currently, there are 40+ streaming TV channels to choose from, showcasing free entertainment in categories like sports, drama, home, nature, crime, and more. You can find all 40+ new channels in The Roku Channel and the Live TV Zone, available on all Roku streaming players and Roku TV models in the UK.
  • We launched Live TV Zone in Brazil to provide a more robust viewing experience for Live TV. You will now be able to seamlessly discover FAST (Free Ad-Supported TV) content through our Live browse menu, complementing the existing Live TV Guide and other platform discovery touchpoints.

July 18, 2025 - Newly released Roku OS features that are broadly available in the USA and key international features:

Updates to Browse and Discovery to make finding and selecting entertainment simpler in the USA:

  • There are now short-form “playlist” rows in Food & Home destinations. These rows bring even more fun and variety via short-form entertainment to Food and Home, for those times when you're not in the mood for a full episode.
  • We have added new rows “Coming Soon to Theaters” and “In Theaters Now” in New & Popular to help you stay on top of new releases. These theatrical rows feature trailers for the most recent movies, helping you decide what to watch next in theaters and easily save movies to watch again at home on your Roku device once they become available to stream.
  • We launched the Surf Mode row in What to Watch and Featured Free, which is an innovative new way to “surf” The Roku Channel clips, with real-time AI that adapts what you see as you surf. Once you’ve entered Surf Mode, you can surf through short-form clips or choose to play the full entertainment right away.
  • We've streamlined the subscription sign-up flow from our entertainment details page, so you can easily subscribe and start watching what you want faster.

Expansion of free TV in Brazil and the UK, plus What to Watch launched in the UK:

  • Live TV Guide and FAST channels are now available in Brazil, providing you with access to free TV. In Brazil, you can now stream 30+ free TV channels with live TV, including news, sports, TV series, movies, and more. You can access free entertainment via the Live TV Channel guide, which features easy-to-navigate categories and a familiar guide format.
  • Freely, the free TV streaming platform in the UK, backed by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5, is now available on new Roku TVs in the UK as of June 2025. In the UK, you can now easily access and stream more free and on-demand entertainment from the UK’s biggest broadcasters. Roku will continue to support all public broadcasters on all Roku devices in the UK.
  • What to Watch, a core Roku OS browse & discovery feature, launched on all existing and future Roku TV models in the UK. What to Watch offers personalised recommendations based on your viewing habits, current subscriptions, and editorially curated entertainment from across the Roku platform. Also located within What to Watch is Continue Watching, a key feature that provides a single location to jump back into the entertainment you are watching across different apps. Additionally, the Save List feature provides a single destination for entertainment you have tagged to watch later.

April 23, 2025 - Newly released Roku OS features that are broadly available in the USA:

New personalized row of content within the Live TV Guide:

This new live programming row provides quicker access to personalized content based on your engagement and brings a broader range of content to the top of the guide, making it seamless to find something to watch. Viewers can still search throughout the Live TV Guide if you want, but now will also have this personalized row to quickly get to your favorite content.

Improvements to our Daily Trivia:

Several new features are being released within our Daily Trivia to improve the experience and increase the fun! Roku Daily Trivia will feature 10 new questions every day to test your entertainment knowledge. After completing Daily Trivia, viewers can browse the content related to the daily quiz or keep playing with Trivia Vault. Our new hub is packed with hundreds of previous questions, now with enhanced visuals and more chances to show off your expertise.

Sports Zones are getting more interactive entertainment:

  • There is now a new row of personalized highlights within Sports Zones, based on favorite teams you have selected. The new personalized highlights row in the Sports Zone brings the best short-form clips up front and all in one place, keeping you up to date with what matters most: your team. 
  • The sports event pages are also getting more interactive elements, such as event previews, to allow you to engage with more short-form content about teams playing in the event.

Improved functionality for Roku Voice:

Roku Voice is increasing it's functionality to allow for more control over your Roku device. Roku Voice can now be used to control Backdrops, allowing you to turn Backdrops on and off easily with your voice. Also, Roku Voice can now be used for Continue Watching and Save List, two key Roku features for discovering and watching entertainment. 

The Roku Mobile App keeps getting better:

  • It is easier than ever to search for and discover entertainment in the Roku Mobile App with expanded features on the content detail pages that include trailers, IMDB, and cast/crew info. This gives you even more details to discover your next next favorite show or movie on the Roku Mobile App.
  • Sports fans can now get event notifications directly from the Roku Mobile App to ensure you never miss a game! When you favorite a team and opt-in for mobile notifications, the Roku Mobile App will send sports event notifications for your favorite teams.

Improvements to Browse + Discovery to make finding and choosing entertainment easier:

We are adding new badges for specific entertainment within the entertainment details pages. You can can spot free, paid, new, or award-winning films right on your screen to provide more confidence in your entertainment selection.

Several key features launching in other countries:

  • Backdrops is coming to Canada. Roku Backdrops allows you to display a gallery of art and photography directly on your TV when you're not streaming, with thousands of free photographs and works of art to choose from.
  • Recommended Row on Home Screen has launched in Brazil, Canada, and Mexico, making it easier for you to quickly get to your favorite entertainment with our personalized row of content.
