If you receive an error regarding “unmet security requirements” or a “required version update” while signing in or creating an account in the Roku app, take the following steps to solve the issue.
App compatibility issues on iOS
The Roku mobile app requires iOS 14.0 or newer. If your iOS phone or tablet is running an older version or is jailbroken, it may not be compatible with the Roku mobile app. Contact Apple support for further support.App compatibility issues on Android
Update the Google Play Store™
- Make sure the Play Store app is up to date:
- Open the Google Play Store app
- Tap on your profile icon in the top right
- Go to Settings > About
- If there’s an update available tap "Update Play Store"
Restart Your Device
Restarting the device can help refresh your device and downloads from the Google Play Store.
Clear Google Play Store cache
- Go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store
- Select Storage & Cache and tap on Clear Cache
Ensure Google Play services are updated
- Open the Play Store and search for "Google Play services"
- Click the Update button if present to install the latest version
Verify the app is installed from the Google Play Store
What you see on screen may differ from the steps below based on your device.
- Tap and hold the Roku app
- Tap App Info in the pop-up
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to the Store section. In the app details, verify it says “App installed from Google Play Store”
Check for Roku mobile app updates in the App Store® or Google Play Store
If your Android phone or tablet is rooted, running uncertified software, or not Play Protect certified, it may not be compatible with the Roku mobile app. Refer to the Google Play Help article for instructions on how to check your Play Protect certification status.If your device is not Play Protect certified, or you are using an older device without the option to check certification status, get further help from Google Android support or the Android Help Community.
