Use Camera Carousel view to cycle through Roku Smart Home video feeds

The carousel view lets you cycle through your Roku® Smart Home camera and Roku Video Doorbell feeds on your TV. With this feature, you can monitor multiple feeds around your home, either based on motion and sound detection or a timed rotation you choose. This lets you easily keep an eye on each live feed without manually switching between them.

By default, the Camera Carousel will rotate through your cameras every 20 seconds. However, if a camera detects motion or sound, the carousel will switch to the camera with the event. Once the event ends, the rotation will return to the time rotation.

  • Press Homehome button on Roku remote on your Roku remote
  • Press OKOK button on Roku remote or press right on the directional pad to access your channel list
  • Highlight the Roku Cameras channel and press OKOK button on Roku remote
  • Select Carousel
  • To view a feed in full screen, press OKOK button on Roku remote

In full screen:

  • To view previous events for the current camera press right on the directional pad
  • To view other cameras press either up or down on the directional pad
  • To return to gallery view, press left on the directional pad

Note: Battery-powered cameras with less than 75% battery level are excluded from timed rotation, but will still appear in the carousel if a motion or sound event occurs. After the event ends, the feed will switch to a different camera view.

You can customize how carousel view chooses to cycle through your camera feeds, adjust the time between each change, and choose how long carousel view focuses on each camera.

  • In the Roku Cameras app, highlight one of the camera views in the gallery
  • Press Starstar button on Roku remote on your remote to open the Options menu
  • Navigate to Customize Carousel View
  • Select When to switch to change how carousel cycles through your cameras

    • Activity or time - Switch to the camera that detects activity. If no activity is detected, the feed will switch to the next camera after a time interval
    • Activity only - Switch to the camera that detects activity
    • Time only - Switch to the next camera after a number of seconds
  • Select Time Interval to change the time between each feed change and how long carousel view focuses on a camera

    • Choose how long to stay on each camera by selecting 15 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, or 45 seconds
    • Choose when the camera feed will switch in seconds by selecting 15, 20, 30, or 45

  • Cameras that are offline are skipped from rotation. You can try refreshing the connection on your Smart Home Device.
  • Ensure your camera has more than 75% battery level. If your outdoor camera is battery powered, you can connect a Roku Solar Panel to keep your camera fully charged.
  • Try connecting your camera to the same WiFi network as your Roku TV or player.
